And then we'll play professional photographer...

Neulamäki Youth Center, Rytö, 15.10.2010. Entry through the back door and straight to the kitchen to find out how everything works. The feeling is rather interesting, as the place is completely unknown to me but still I'm part of the staff. Oh, whatever. :D

I get an order to take pics of everything.

When the system is basically clear, it's time for random hanging around, getting the coffee machine ready and "Hey, here's your ticket to get some food, and here are our kitchen girls" -round. Bit by bit coffee-thirsty musicians, sound techs and other more or less important people start entering the kitchen. While feeding the others, one is also allowed to feed herself.

Having taken care of the kitchen duties

-Would you take a few kittens?
-No, no, not by any means!!
-Not even for nailing them on the wall?

-Have you ever been to Vesanto?
-Can't remember I would have.
-We're civilized there, we also have forks and knives.
-So do we in Lapinlahti!
-There's a dairy in Lapinlahti. I've been there.

I'm allowed to watch and especially photograph the gig. The audience is a bit quiet during the first band. The second creates some movement among them and the third really gets the crowd going. I'm having great time and even headbanging enough to get a hurting neck for a few following days. 8D

New positions right in front of, and on the side of the stage give me a bunch of new angles and other interesting possibilities.

The lights at this sort of smaller events are often a bit challenging, but I must say that I've seen worse.

Verjnuarmu 2

The only disappointment of the evening is that Verjnuarmu doesn't give an encore despite fierce applause.

Even cleaning is nice when one can take posters and setlists home. In general the whole night as a kitchen girl has been so nice that I'll retake it if possible.

-Could the girls help you somehow?
-Look at us their jaws dropped.

Over! Gone! Förbi!

Now I've managed to get through the matriculation exams. :D The next thing to worry about are the results, but I'm not going to think them until a bit before Christmas. Also normal exam week will begin tomorrow, but somehow I don't see it as a big thing. :P

Nice stuff coming up in October:

- Verjnuarmu at Rytö, supports will be Raven Claw (omnomnomnomnom) and Human Disposal Waste Unit
At the moment it seems that I'll be working there. 8D

- Verjnuarmu at Kulttuuriareena 44

I'll hopefully and propably be taking photographs of both events.
One very interesting fact is that Nuarmu's next album "Lohuton" will be out before the gig at 44, so there might be a chance to hear new stuff live. :3 One new song, "Kuvajaenen" has already been heard and also released as a digital single. If you haven't heard it, now hurry up and get yourself to YouTube!

Talking about photographs, I finally got the foggy morning that I wanted. To be more precise, I got it on a day-off. For the whole August I looked the beautiful mornings outside the kitchen window and cursed school. Then, all weekends were so rainy that there was absolutely no hope of having that nice fog around. But matriculation exams, despite trying to eat my whole life, provided me with a chance to stay at home, reading. And there my foggy day was. :D
The pics didn't turn out that good but some of them are at least decent.

Nomming

I'm being bad. I'm here instead of studying for the matriculation exams.

I got Apocalyptica's 7th Symphony in my hands today. The album actually came out already in last month but because of the disappointment caused by the single song, I wasn't in a hurry of buying it.

However, the CD arrived today and after small difficulties (greetings to Mr. Gates) I had the chance to take a closer look at its contents. The first song sounded interesting and it gave me back some hope I had lost. As the songs just kept getting better towadrs the end I was pretty happy with the album.

One of my predictions was true: the instrumentals are better than the songs with vocals. Ecxept
Bring Them To Light. While writing this I'm listening to it for the fifth time. :D

Now I'll continue the listening...

Return and revenge of the Box

It's ready. :D Hopefully I'll be making also other updates than just a new layout. Though that will not happen during the couple of next weeks, because of matriculation exams. Mine will be over on 22. day, so before that I'm pretty much occupied.

Until we meet again.

Oh mighty renovation

I'm making a whole new layout for this blog so for a while it might look a bit funny. X)

Quite a lot of stuff has happened again. :D
A couple of weeks ago I travelled to Rauma with our choir. We gave the same charity concert that was held here last year. I really enjoyed the trip and even the weather was on our side.

One thing that irritated me a little was the fact that I was having a stomach flu on our way back, so sitting many hours in the bus wasn't the most pleasant thing to do. Then another thing that irritated me a bit more was that I missed a Stam1na gig because of the trip. They would have come to a place quite near to me, but I wasn't here so...
In the pic there are 4/6 members of our group. Some time ago we even came up with a name for us (it took no longer than 9 years). Nowdays we're called Aranea. :D The name was found from a latin words list and it means spider's web.

Last weekend it was time for bit more sad stuff. An old horse that belonged to the family of one of my friends was put to sleep on Friday. Jaavan Tähtö, "Jämä", was a real personality and still a couple of years ago it took part in western riding competitions. Thank you for all Jämä!

Exam week begun yesterday. Two exams are done, five more to go.

But today's most interesting thing happened already in the morning. The weather forecast had said it'd not rain today so I decided to go to school by scooter. Well, of course after a nice, long, straight part of the road there's a police car waiting for me. At that point I just thought "oh crap" because I knew that my scooter goes a bit more than it's allowed to. But I have nothing to do with it. Really.

Like I thought, it was about that. I was told to come inside the car while the other police drove the scooter back to the straight road. The radar told the speed was 60 km/h (the highest speed allowed for that type of vechile is 45km/h) and I got a fine of €20. The positive thing was that the speed didn't exceed 65 km/h when I'd have lost my licence. X) Though the policemen said that they had measured a rather high speed when I was driving, because I weight less. But maybe they just were the forgiving type.

I think I need to get a vechile I can legally drive a bit faster...

One more thing I have to say is that the picture uploading system of Blogger has changed since my last visit and the new one seems to be just plain stupid. The pics are mega big size, so only part of them can be seen....

Oh yeah. I made a kind of sequel for Finnrölli., though it works the other way round. The song is Finntroll's Segersång. :D

And this time the vid can be found on the Finnish side. :P

I always have sooo wise ideas.
After school on Friday, I came up with an idea. Again. The results can be seen here. :D

Oh, all the wonders of quick updates.

Random of the day: S-Markets are good places to find CDs you didn't expect to find there. :D Today I bought Stam1na's album Raja, with only €9.

Discovery of the day: Well actually a discovery from yesterday, but anygays. Faroese folk/viking metal band Týr that also sings partly in Faroese. I'm very hooked to it and my viking obsession is coming back again. Beware! :D The message is: By The Sword In My Hand

Pic of the day: In fact it's made because of the discovery of the day. The photos I took from Google and the brushes I've downloaded from random places.

Thursday, 22 April 2010

The random things of the day:

1. I was told that we'd have a vocabulary test today, even we really hadn't.
2. A guy, who's going to be a teacher and who's practising in our school, was wearing Amorphis-shirt today. :D
3. The Flash Player in school's computers is too old, so YouTube doesn't work. And the update cannot be done from a student account...
4. Harmaja's new album has been released yesterday. :3 I need to get one!

Sunday, 18 April 2010

Now I've maybe had some sleep. :D But I'm still lazy. I'm not in the mood for long explanations. Anymore.

Anyways. I visited Poland. The reason to go there, was European youth forum in which we participated. This year there were, besides Polish people, Belgians, two groups of Germans, two groups of Finns and some Swedish people. Pics can be found in Deviantart.

Other things I've done in life, is finding new bands. :D I'm so hooked to Finntroll and Stam1na.

I've also been making plans for the summer. Because this autumn I'm going to do the matriculation examination on chemistry and English and I still have some English courses left, I'll do the courses in the summer. As a opposite thing to that, I'll go to the Tuska Open Air metal festival. Or at least I've bought the tickets. There I'll go and see Insomnium, Tarot, Pain and Finntroll. Maybe something else as well. :D Now I just keep waiting...

Monday, 22 March 2010

I have been lazy again... There are too many things to tell about. A week before the winter holiday I was on a Sonata Arctica gig, during the holiday I mostly tried to do some schoolwork and the previous week I've been in Krakow, Poland. Well, minus the time we spent driving there by bus. X) Pics of this all will follow with some stories, though I've already uploaded some on Deviantart. I'll be back here as soon as I've got some sleep...

Friday, 12 February 2010

Oh yeah. Like I might have said earlier, it seems that world is full of good music. Well, there's loads of shit in between but it can be ignored. X) I started to think about this again because I've recently found a couple of good bands. The first one maybe something like 2 weeks ago and another one actually yesterday.

The first one is Norther, which I found through Ensiferum. Propably the most common approach: "Oh. Petri Lindroos is singing in this one too. I wonder how it sounds like." (Well he's not in the band anymore.) I can't really say anything else than *sob sob* I'm a fangirl... X)

The another one is Insomnium. A friend of mine had sent me a couple of songs some time ago. I had listened to them, liked the another one and listened to it often. The other song I didn't like so much that time because I wasn't so familiar with growling vocals, so I didn't really pay attention to the band in general. Well, during the last month I started to feel that I hear/read about Insomnium everywhere. I decided to find what is this all about and listened to that another song agian. It sounded much better though I still didn't think it was anything especially good. The next thing was when I had extra time after school and I stayed there in the computer class. I listened to a few others Insomnium songs and Weighed Down With Sorrow was the one that really struck a chord. For the rest of the day I was like I had taken mushrooms of some sort. And I listened to it "a couple of times" more.

Aaaand. When I was in my room listenin to it my mum, who was in the next room said: "Awesome cellos. What is this?" The next comment was: "This song gives me chills. It really has something in it." Tehehehe. I'll turn mum into a real metal monster. :D

Saturday, 30 January 2010

The dress for my senior dance is ready. It's made by my grandmother and I love it!!! I couldn't have wished for a better one. :D

That mask I bought in the autumn just for this. I wanted to post these pics without showing my face. The strange poses are also the mask's fault. It has been hanging on my wall so the rubber band was stretched and didn't hold the mask properly in its place.
My sister took the pics.

Tuesday, 26 January 2010

Just a random thing to say. I have a Deviantart account now. I think that there'll be more pictures than here, but the most interesting ones will also get themselves here with some kind of longer comments. So those two pages are going to cooperate nicely. :D

Sunday, 24 January 2010

If one sings several hours per day and three days in a row it starts to feel somewhere. And now we're not talking about sort of humming and singing along the music you listen, but singing with choir + keyboards, drums and bass. Well, of course if I was a better singer I could do it in a way that it doesn't feel afterwards. But I'm not. Not just yet.

The reason to this suddenly increased amount of singing is a great production that is prepared by the local youth theatre, our choir *couch, a quintet* and the band. Familiar Disney songs in a completely new frame. We've been working with this since autumn but only now, in January, the rehearsals have taken all the weekends. It's been interesting to follow how the plot that's written by the young actors themselves has developed. Some of the things I could have never made up myself. X)
Also the songs have changed in the process. The last, fastest and maybe biggest change was the band.

The funny detail of the weekend was moving all the band stuff from place A to place B. We got to be roadies. :D It doesn't maybe sound like the most glamorous thing to do, but if you've never seen a drumkit fitted into the back of a regular car, it's fun.

Sunday, 3 January 2010

Random things... Sketches. :D I was drawing these around the time when the year changed. At normal time during the day but also at night, which is not so typical thing for me to do. At first they we're just random drawings, but after a while they started to look like...they had their own thoughts and lives and so on. Sounds maybe funny, but that's how it is. After realising that I felt like I had to come up with a story for them. And maybe draw it into a for of a comic. However, that would take so much time that it's not going to happen in near future. But hey, that just means I can develop my ideas more.

And then. They are still sketches. So no negative thoughts about anatomy, or places of noses, eyes and stuff. Okay?

The last pic also has greetings from my sister. :P
